At Christ Anglican Church we are committed to providing everyone the opportunity to grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To that end we provide ample opportunity for learning and service. It is our prayer and expectation that as the church grows the opportunities for study and ministry will grow with it. Please feel free to call on us should you like further information about any of the following ministries.
Altar
Guild. It may very well be that the Altar Guild ministry is the
most unheralded ministry within the church, but one of the most
important as well. The ladies who are called to this ministry assist
all of us to worship in the beauty and holiness of the Lord.
Acolyte
Service. This is a very special ministry to serve the Lord at His
altar assisting the Vicar in the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. All
adult males and young men are encouraged to seek God's call to this
ministry.
Choir Ministry. The purpose of the choir is to support the Mass celebrtion and to help bring a sense of celebration to the
worship of our God, to prompt the congregation in singing praise to
God, and to support those in the congregation in their efforts to
become true worshipers who worship God in spirit
and in truth.
Parish nursing is the intentional integration of the practice of
nursing with the beliefs of a religious community. A parish nurse is a registered nurse (RN)
specialist who encourages physical and spiritual health and wholeness
by developing and leading programs within faith communities. If you are
person of faith, parish nursing can be an exciting way to integrate
body, mind, spirit and community into your nursing practice. The American Nurses Association (ANA)
uses the term Faith Community Nursing (FCN) to define the nursing
specialty of parish nursing, also known as congregational nursing or
church nursing. ANA defines FCN as "the specialized practice of
professional nursing that focuses on the intentional care of the spirit
as part of the process of promoting holistic health and preventing or
minimizing illness in a faith community." Rather than dealing
primarily with sickness in a faith community, parish nurses focus on
wellness, disease prevention and health promotion.
Responsibilities may
include:
- Personal health counseling for faith community members
- Coordinating with community health resources and acting as a church liaison
- Training and coordinating volunteers in support services
- Organizing health support groups
- Assessing congregational and community health needs
- Responding to health-related issues such as substance abuse, addictions and violence within congregational families or the surrounding community
Parish nurses may work exclusively with a single large congregation or
divide their time between multiple smaller congregations. A number of
faith denominations coordinate national or international parish nursing
programs.
Adult Sunday School.
The adult Sunday School meets each Sunday at 8:45 a.m. before Mass. Fr.
Manny leads those who attend into a deeper understanding of God's word
and a greater knowledge of ways in which to grow in Christ.Youth
Sunday School. We are truly convinced that we must do all that we
can to lead our children closer to Christ by giving them the best
education possible. This growing part of our Christian education
provides the children with the opportunity learn more and more about
God through the use of age appropriate teaching tools.
St. Brigid's
Women's Guild. The women of the church gather together each month
to plan fellowship events, fund-raising opportunities, and to implement
a number of outreach ministries. All of the women of the parish are
members of the guild and are welcome to participate.
St. Martin's Men's Club. The men of the
church meet once per month in the parish house for a time of
fellowship, feasting, and learning. While we do indeed have fun and eat
well, we also are committed to growing in our relationship with Christ
through the study of God's word and learning how to worship and praise
him in prayer and worship.
